Antipolo City – In the Midst of Expansion

Named after the breadfruit (tipulo) plant that once lined the slopes of the Sierra Madre mountain range, Antipolo City is a place rich in history and character. Once a favorite vacation spot for Manila's rich and famous, Antipolo City has gradually urbanized, yet retains much of its rustic appeal. Going up the hills through either Sumulong Highway, Marcos Highway, or Tikling Road, you can feel the weight of the Big City slowly being lifted from you.

Great Views, Great Value

Antipolo City is known for its location on the mountains that overlook Metro Manila. On a good day, one can look west and see the Manila Bay sunset in all of its blazing glory. As night falls, cool breezes blow gently, lulling you into a state of relaxation. Beyond its location, however, Antipolo City is best known for the Shrine of Our Lady of Peace or Good Voyage, otherwise known as the Antipolo Cathedral. Every weekend, motor enthusiasts take their cars to the Cathedral to have them blessed. They believe that doing so will protect their cars and passengers from harm.

They might also be looking for an excuse to go up the mountains. Entertainment and dining establishments are abundant in the city, starting with Padi's Point along Sumulong Highway and Valley Golf and Country Club. Not far from the city center is the Hinulugang Taktak waterfalls, immortalized in a popular song. Indeed, Antipolo is where man and nature coexist peacefully.

Because of its proximity to national roads, Antipolo has become a popular choice for families whose parents work in Metro Manila. Jeepneys from Antipolo make round trips to and from Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Quezon City, making travel convenient for those who work or study in the said areas.
