In a tropical country like the Philippines where everyone looks forward to not exactly summer but going to the beach for summer, condos with resort-style amenities are a big draw.

Here’s the idea. What if you don’t have to go to the beach anymore to have a swim? You can have it right outside your home, a mere short walk from your condo unit. If you browse condo property listings that are newly turned over or in the pre-selling and then navigate to the project’s website or developer’s social media profile, you are bound to notice this trend.

What was once a feature monopolized by leisure developments such as beachfront properties is now a standard amenity among condo developments. Low-rise communities are even master-planned to have a resort-living ambiance from the get-go.

There is intense competition among developers to offer better, if not the latest, in amenities. This is driven partly as home buyers, informed by the many options available, become more savvy with their home buying choices.

Here’s our starter list of new and pre-selling condo developments with resort-style amenities.

1. Royal Palm Residences

Royal Palm Residences is nestled within the Acacia Estates, DMCI’s sprawling 4-hectare gated community in Taguig, a full 1-hectare of which is devoted to resort-themed amenities. A recently completed project last 2013, it is accessible via C-5 road and just minutes away from the business districts of Bonifacio Global City and Makati.

A mixture of both mid-rise and high-rise condo development with building names such as Rawai, Kamala, and Yanoi, Royal Palm Residences take its inspiration from Thai resort villas. It features an impressive array of amenities that fall into passive leisure and active play categories.

For the passive leisure amenities, residents can have the pleasure of sauna, sky lounge, and game room. Active play amenities include a lap pool for swimmers, a leisure pool for the more laidback type, and an interactive water play pool for those who love some water fun.

2. One Oasis Ortigas

Located along Ortigas Avenue extension in Pasig City, One Oasis Ortigas is a medium-rise condo community with resort-like amenities. It bears Filinvest’s Oasis brand of mid-rise resort-style condos with projects in Pasig, Manila, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Davao.

With more than 60% of the 4-hectare One Oasis dedicated to lush open spaces and amenities, it offers a low-density community hard to find in the middle of a densely-populated city. It features adult and kiddie pools, a separate lap pool, and cascading water feature pleasing to look at. Other amenities include a play park, entertainment room, and a fitness gym.

Around summer this year, Filinvest launched a summer promo titled “Escape to Oasis” offering 1 year’s worth of free association dues to promote their ready-for-occupancy units of Oasis-brand projects including One Oasis Ortigas, Capri Oasis, One Oasis Cebu, Sanremo Oasis, Amalfi Oasis, and One Oasis Davao.

Based on its master-plan of 9 residential buildings and luxury-class amenities on a 6-hectare site, the scale alone of Azure Urban Resort Residences can be said to be more than ambitious. From the developers known for their luxury-brand properties, Century Properties is aiming, in their words, “to set a new benchmark for 21st century tropical living.”

If there is one condo development that gives an exciting promise of a true resort-living ambiance, Azure Urban Resort Residences seems to be it. Or at least based on its master-plan by the award-winning global architectural firm Broadway Malyan.

The plan features a fluid layout design that showcases its pool amenities (a 25-meter lap pool with floating sunbathing beds, an infinity pool, and a wave pool) while ingeniously including other amenities such as a beach volleyball court, a basketball court, and roof decks for each residential tower. Azure Urban Resort Residences are pre-selling with expected turnovers from 2015 – 2017.
