As a college student, your choice of internship during your junior or senior year is crucial – it determines who you know, what experience you get, and where you get your foot in the door.

That said, we think there is no better place to intern than ZipMatch. Yes, yes, we may be a tad bit biased since we work here and all and we want your cool self to join us, but we’ve gathered some proof from our video vault to back up our claims. So without further ado, here are the top ten reasons to be a ZipMatch intern.

1. You can contribute your talents to solving one of the biggest problems in Philippines.

The Metro Manila skyline has changed dramatically over the past ten years, all on the account of our booming real estate industry. Yet as prosperous as it is, the process of buying a home is still a major pain point. At ZipMatch, you can jump in on day 1 and tackle this problem. In the above clip, our CEO is passing out flyers in Market Market to better understand the pain points of brokers (1 of them is that they get rejected a lot – like a lot, a lot).

2. You can go out and explore the world.

Given that ZipMatch is trying to address and transform the way real estate is done in the Philippines, our team members often go into the community to interact with our various stakeholders. So rather than be cooped up in an office all day, you often get to highlight the best of our communities and the Filipinos living within them.

3. You can learn the ins and outs of the real estate industry.

Real estate is one of the most important economic sectors in the Philippines, yet the average Filipino knows very little about it. As ZipMatch is on the frontlines of shaping the real estate industry in the country, you stand to work with the best brokers, agents, and developers in the nation. You will quickly master how real estate can transform people’s lives, yours included.

4. You can dance the night away during our game nights.

We at ZipMatch have a “Work Hard, Play Hard” attitude. The second part of that equation becomes most apparent during our game nights. Organized monthly, these are an opportunity for ZipMatch team members to bond over good beer and general merriment.

5. You can release your inner Jack Johnson during our acoustic nights.

No company can truly call itself Filipino unless it can belt a good tune. With this idea in mind, ZipMatch also hosts monthly acoustic nights. ZipMatch team members self-organize into solo or group acts, pitch in money for a victory pot, and compete for the title of musical champion.

6. You get to go out of town on company trips.

Some of these are official company outings, while others are unofficial ones. In either case, the ZipMatch team heads out to an exotic locale to have a blast in the Philippine sunshine. The last ZipMatch outing was a vaunt to La Union – our team members surfed during the day and listened to a concert on the beach come sundown.

7. You can geek out during lunch breaks.

This footage was taken from one of our many company drones. The drone launches off our building and explores the surrounding area. If you don’t know how to fly a drone, don’t worry – our resident pilot Mark Soulmian (senior software engineer) can show you how. Bon voyage!

8. Your ideas are welcomed, encouraged, and nurtured here.

The ZipMatch organizational structure is generally flat. If you’ve got an idea that you want to suggest, just call out, “Hey John!” (Dang, our CEO). We also have firepitches every Friday, where you can formally pitch your best ideas to an audience of the entire company. And if you need some liquid courage, we’ve got good beer.

9. You can keep in shape.

The company prizes the well-being and health of its employees. As such, we often organize sports fests. These are admittedly done less frequently than game nights or acoustic nights, but hey, we still do them. It’s usually basketball (for the boys) and volleyball (for the girls). Recently, we have started doing night runs in preparation of a Mount Pulag climb.

10. You can express your creativity.

Given that the culture of ZipMatch is so flat, you are given the freedom to experiment. The above clip is from a video created by the content team showing the “12 Things You’ll Find in Every Filipino Home.” This entry is not for bad singing (sorry Carissa Hiquiana, our PR head), but for a Magic-Sing.

11. You can work with the best people.

ZipMatch is backed by some of the best venture capital firms in the world, including Hatchd Digital, 500 Startups, IMJ Investment Partners, Ideaspace Foundation, and Monk’s Hill Ventures. Some of our investors often drop in to share best practices with us – this is Khailee Ng of 500 Startups recounting how he built GroupsMore (a group buying site) in Malaysia.

12. You can develop new skills and talents.

This clip is from a video about the Pag-IBIG Fund that went viral, garnering over 1500 shares and 20,000 views. What’s most impressive is that the voice over throughout the video is done by none other than our HR head, Abbey Marfil. At ZipMatch, we encourage our employees to explore and develop additional skills and talents.

For more information on ZipMatch’s intern program contact Abbey (who is also our go-to voice talent). Please feel free to contact her at abbey@zipmatch.com or +639178424485 / +6324789791.

She is friendly and kind, so don’t be intimidated to approach her! Here is a photo with her dog that proves that:
