Davao City: The Pearl of the South

Davao City is catching up to the established metropolises to the north in terms of public services, economy, and quality of life. In fact, many visitors believe that life is better down south, as the air is cleaner, there is not much traffic, and they can feel that government actually works for them. This is because the past and present city administrations of Davao City believe that its residents should get what they truly deserve – a clean city with infrastructure and services that go like clockwork.

Pride of Mindanao

Davao City is known as the cultural heart of Mindanao. In addition to the indigenous influences that are seen throughout Davao City, Visayans, Tagalogs, and other Filipino ethnic groups have made a mark on the cultural landscape of the area. Foreign influences, too, are readily apparent. This makes Davao City a truly cosmopolitan Philippine city.

Because of this, investors have been flocking to Davao City, building malls, buildings, and businesses within the city limits. Many of them, such as the Gaisano group, have maintained a presence since Davao's earlier days, while others, such as the Ayala Corporation and SM Development Corporation, are fast claiming their share of economic development. Thus, condominiums, shopping malls, and subdivisions have begun popping out of the ground in Davao City.

All of this makes Davao City the undisputed king of Southern Mindanao's economy. The city is host to BPO companies that employ a large portion of the region's highly educated population, many of whom come from schools such as the University of Southeastern Philippines, the University of Mindanao, and the Ateneo de Davao University. Truly, Davao City is where the growth is constant and concentrated.

Renting a Condo in Davao City

It is fairly easy to find a condominium in Davao City as most of them are located near large shopping malls and business districts. For as low as P10,000 a month, you can get a 25-square meter studio-type condominium in Ma-a district, near schools and offices. On the other hand, P40,000 a month can get you a fully-furnished 2-bedroom right across the largest shopping mall in Davao City. This variety of available rentals guarantees that you'll have an easy time settling in the south.
